New Seniority System Effective January 1, 2016

Starting with the first session in 2016 crew board slots will be assigned based on a new seniority system.

When the seniority system was implemented over five years ago the goal was to reward those that had supported my operations from the beginning and give them an upper hand in getting Call Board slots.  This goal was accomplished.  Maybe too well.  In fact it has become very difficult for anyone other than the top eight in seniority to get a slot on the Call Board.

While my goal still remains to reward those that have supported me over the years I also want to allow everyone a chance to attend from time to time.  To this end a new seniority system will be implement starting with the first session in 2016.

The main difference between the old and the new is the old seniority process will now only apply to the first six Call Board slots.  That will leave two Call Board slots open for other attendees.  One of these open slots will be assigned to an FQO and one will be assigned to a non FQO.  These assignments will be given to the FQO and non FQO that have the longest absence.  This will allow everyone to cycle through these two open slots and attend at least one (and (probably more) E&P sessions a year.

The other major change has to do with the week night sessions.  Call Board slots for these sessions (when held) will be assigned based on the longest absence.  This will ensure that those that have not been able to get on the weekend Call Board will be able to get on the week day Call Board.

The apprentice process will remain in place in the new seniority system.

The new seniority list will include your last session attended to give you an indication of your position in the queue for the weekend Call Board slots 7 & 8 and for the week night Call Board slots.

The official description of the new seniority system can be found at http://www.easton-and-potomac.com/files/epops_seniority_policy.pdf.

To give an example of the difference between the old and the new I have listed the Call Board for the November session using the current system and if the new system had been in place.

The difference between the two are in the Call Board's slot 7 & 8.

Hopefully this new process will give everyone a fair chance at getting on the Call Board and allow more to attend an E&P session.

But to get on the Call Board you need to sign up.  So when the 2016 schedule is posted sometime the week of December 14th make sure you signup for those sessions you can attend.

And finally I suspect there are quite a few that have given up on trying to get a slot on the E&P Call Board.  So please pass this word on to anyone you know that has operated on the E&P and let them know if they signup there is a good possibility the will get a slot on the Call Board.
