Especially when they were discussing long division and word problems.
I believe I stated my goal was to do 100 trees a day and to be finished by Sunday.
So here is the word problem.
Nbr. 1. Keith had 695 tree armatures. He finished 82 of them. He plans to do 100 trees a day starting on Thursday. When will Keith be done with trees?
No peaking at the answer.
Today I finished another 100 first tier trees. I think I have enough flocking to do about 200 to 300 more.
So here is another word problem.
Nbr. 2. Will Keith run out of flocking before running out of trees?
Again no peaking at the answer.
My rate of tree flocking is about 50 per hour.
So one more word problem.
Nbr. 3. How long with it take Keith to finish?
==========================================================
OK here are the answers. I think.
Nbr. 1
(695 - 82) / 100 = 6.13 days, I know we are dealing with fractions but hang in there.
So if Keith starts on Thursday and it takes 6 days (let's assume Keith can push and do 13 more tress on the last day) he will finish on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, TUESDAY. Which would be two days beyond his goal.
Nbr. 2
695 - 82 - 200 = 413 which is greater than either 200 or 300 so Keith will run out of flocking before running out of trees. This will have more impact on his goal than his current rate of flocking.
Nbr. 3
(695 - 82 - 200) / 50 = 8.26 hours or approximately 8 hours 16 minutes.
Enough math for today.
I think when I run out of flocking I will move on to planting. And since I have enough flocking for about six hours or work I should be able to get to a stopping (planting) point by the end of Sunday. Weather permitting of course.
