Lots Of Work, But None On Scenery

The last few days have been very busy but not on items I wanted to concentrate on even though during one period of somewhat warm weather I was able to get another 25 trees matte medium soaked and dried.

My main efforts have been getting the railroad staged for the 127th session.  These efforts were made more intense since the 126th session didn't get everything run.  This is no reflection on the attendees of the 126th session.  This was a special session and three of the attendees had not operated on the layout before and for the other three it had been seven years since they operated on the layout.  Given this they did an admiral job.  We just ran out of time.

So the staging for the 127th session started with completing the Broadway Turn which got as far as Hopkins Spring on its return to White Hall.  Then it was on to the Hood Turn which was sitting in Hood.  Once that was done a second Hood Turn was needed and run.  Then it was on to White Hall to sort all of the new cars from the three turns and get the Southern and N&W interchange runs ready.  With that complete I ran both of the interchange runs which completed the 126th session.  All of this took about five hours.

The next day I sorted White Hall yard and made up #110 to get White Hall to the standard starting position.  I then decided to do a test run of the Broadway Turn.  During the last two sessions engine #44 assigned to the Broadway Turn has started overheating before getting to Swift Run.  And it once again overheated during my test.  This is new for this engine and started right after I made the changes to the CV settings to use a speed table and reduce the top speed.  I will be setting the CVs back to see if the overheating problem goes away.  To wrap up the day I fixed all of the Bad Order equipment and repaired some damage done to the White Hall coaling tower.

Today was the normal staging process of selecting cars, removing cars and generating business demand.  That process took about two hours.  As of this writing the layout is staged and ready for the 127th session.  And the session instructions for the 127th session have been posted to www.easton-and-potomac.com.

Now it is on to trying to determine why #44 has started overheating and adjusting the CVs for  #30, #50 and #51 for better operation.

There is one thing about this hobby, it will take all of the time you have to give to it.
