There is one thing in model railroading that mimics the real world and that is the ability to keep steam engines running. Just like in the real setting it is much easier to keep diesels running than to keep steam running. I just removed two steam engines from the layout, engine #42 and engine #34. #42 was removed because it is binding in a forward direction. #34 was removed because it from time to time is jerky starting, looses its sound and is now also binding in the forward and reverse directions. #34 is my second attempt at a special passenger engine. If I am not successful on the workbench with #34 then I will give up on a special passenger engine and go with a standard consolidation.
