New Form 19 System

Starting with the first session of 2012 (January 21, 2012) the dispatcher will be responsible for writing all of the trains order needed to handle any of the extras and any situations outside of normal operation and filling in affected personnel.

Up through 2011 I had been writing the orders and had them ready before the session. I also printed up special instruction sheets, if necessary, for the White Hall YM, Thorny Point YM, operator and dispatcher and had these available at the beginning of the session.

I will still provide the dispatcher at least a week before the session with the dispatcher's special instruction sheet but I will not be providing these special instruction sheets to the other personnel. The dispatcher will be responsible for filling in affected personnel with any changes he is making to the normal operation.

To try and make the order writing process easier and quicker, and legible, I developed a Train Order application that will record and print Form 19 orders. (The screen for this application is shown below.)

As of today the application is saving and printing the orders and appears to be working correctly. All I have to do now is find a laptop and printer to place in the dispatcher's office and we should be ready for the first session of 2012!

Looks good. One thing I noticed is the address lines are to C&E ENGINE.... This applies only to orders originating extra trains. An order to a scheduled train or to an existing extra is addressed to "C&E (train number)" e.g., "To C&E No 76" or "To C&E Extra 107 West."

Sorry to toss a glitch in the system, but I recall that all your train are scheduled trains.
