Thanks to the Blue Screen of Death I now have a new computer and Windows 7. Even though I used to be a technology guy I still hate having to move to new technology.
So far it looks like the only thing I did not recover is my contacts list but I did have a backup that was about three months old. So I should be good. I will be looking into a 1 Tera byte portable hard drive to use for backup purposes so maybe this type of thing has less impact next time.
The new machine has over twelve times the amount of memory than old one had. That does make a difference!
