Every Once In A While Something Goes As Hoped

Somewhere around 12 years ago I made the bases for the open coal loads.  I have been using these to represent loaded hoppers every since with the intention of creating the actual coal loads to go on top  of them.

So on Sunday I made two jigs and started the process of making the actual coal (and cinder) loads.

When I went up to the workshop on Monday to see if I could get the loads out of the jig I was pleasantly surprised.  They came out without any trouble and they look pretty good to me.

So now it is on to making coal loads until all of the blanks are covered with coal.

(Open load jigs.  The top one is for one of the cinder gons and the lower one is for the Athearn HS MINING CO style hoppers.  I placed a light coat of Vaseline on the jig to keep the glue from gluing the load to the jig.)

At least two more jigs are needed for some one off cars and for the Bowser and Accurail style cars.
